About Us
The AM Picture Library had its creation way back with photographer David Beal and journalist Dawn Russell (picture above) many of the images of the 1960's and onwards are a result of their teamwork. They worked in London and Europe and on returning to Australia were involved in publishing thirteen books, including six childrens' books written by Dawn and illustrated by David. In the early 1970's they formed Audience Motivation to pioneer multi-screen Audio Visuals for corporate and government clients. As the business grew other photographers were commissioned to work on the projects. An internal photographic library was established. A Forox rostrum camera and an E4 processing line were installed for slide production. At times up to 100 projectors were used on some productions, controlled (in the early days by punched tape) by sophisticated computer programmes. All this required the shipping of tonnes of equipment around Australia and to Asian countries.
But change was on the way, video projection was improving in quality and eventually made slide projection for AV production redundant.
The photographic library was moth balled. Now the iconic and vintage images of the AM Picture Library are back in business -
